Betty Jane Humphrey
6/29/1921 – 10/27/2010
Betty was born in Cleveland, Ohio on June 29, 1921, where she was raised and educated. She married John R. Humphrey in 1953 and moved to Mentor, Ohio where she raised her three children. She worked for the Lake County School system for many years and later became an executive secretary for the Babcock and Wilcox Manufacturing Co. For the last twenty five years she has worked as the office manager and ring leader for her daughter at the Vicki Humphrey Training Center, an equestrian facility in Canton Georgia.
Betty loved music, played the piano, and was a staple in her church choir for many years. She enjoyed hiking, boating, gardening, art and antiques, but was most fulfilled when spending time with her children, grandchildren, and close friends. Her happy and joyful spirit was contagious and she unconditionally made everyone feel special, unique, and most of all loved. She will be sorely missed and always fondly remembered.
Betty Jane Humphrey of Canton, Georgia died peacefully on Wednesday evening, October 27, 2010 surrounded by her loving family and adoring friends.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra and Victoria, her son David, and her grandchildren Lea, Jessie, Shannon, Entelechy, Jordan, Quinten and Aaron.
The family would like to acknowledge the swell of kind words and thoughts extended from friends and admirers.
